Midwest Amari Magic
Bitter Beauties
Amaro Da Verde
Green is a spectrum! Amaro da Verde, the latest amaro from Fractional Spirits, delivers fresh, herbal flavors reminiscent of Chartreuse in an amaro that’s red in the bottle, antique gold over ice, and green on your tongue. Freshly macerated rhubarb and blood orange join lemon verbena, select bitter herbs, and roots in a spirit that is twice infused in small batches, with no additional sweetener.
Amaro da Verde adds depth, character and complexity to your favorite cocktail, whether it’s strong and stirred or bright and citrusy.
Fernet Fungo
Fernet Fungo differs from others in the category through its use of fresh wood-grown donko shiitake mushrooms to impart earthy umami undertones, which provide a base for whole citrus and a unique blend of 15 herbs and toasted spices inspired by Co-Op’s home base near the famed Devon Avenue Corridor, one of the most diverse streets in the country. 18th Street’s balanced grain spirit is infused and aged with this intensely aromatic bouquet and fresh sliced mushrooms, then filtered, and proofed to savory perfection.
Fernet Fungo builds savory character in any classic drinks from sweet to neat, as a central flavor it creates new originals as yet to be seen.
Chi Beginnings
We aren’t just makers of unique Midwestern amari. Fractional Spirits was founded in 2023 as a collaboration between Co-Op Sauce, a long-time Chicago-based sauce company and fermentation specialists, and the award-winning 18th Street Distillery, the first Black-owned distillery in Indiana. The first project developed by cofounders Mike Bancroft and Drew Fox was Fernet Fungo, a bitter amaro featuring flavors inspired by the diversity of the Chicagoland region.
Ethos’es
Our philosophy is to make the most of seasonal ingredients — sourced from local growers and purveyors — and ensuring that as little as possible goes to waste. We distill and infuse our spirits by hand in small batches at our facility in Hammond, Indiana.
